Powers of the court

Consideration in the first instance of the following categories of cases:
- criminal cases, for with the exception of cases referred to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation to the competence of higher courts;
- civil cases, with the exception of cases considered by justices of the peace, military and other courts (Articles 113,114_1 -116 of the Code of Civil Procedure of the RSFSR). In the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, where justices of the peace have not been appointed (not elected), cases that fall within their competence are considered by the judges of the district courts alone.
