Territorial jurisdiction in civil cases
Sortavala city court hears civil cases on claims brought against persons ( defendants in civil cases) residing (or located) on the territory of the Sortavala municipal district (Article 28 of the Code of Civil Procedure of the Russian Federation).

Sortavala city court hears cases of administrative offenses committed on the territory of the Sortavala municipal region. At the request of the person in respect of whom the proceedings are underway in the case of an administrative offense, the case can be considered at the place of residence of this person (Article 29.5 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation).

Sortavala City Court of the Republic of Karelia informs about the work with compliance with the requirements stipulated by the resolutions of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation, the order of the Head of the Republic of Karelia dated 12.03.2020 No. 127-r "On the introduction of a high alert regime on the territory of the Republic of Karelia from March 12, 2020" (subject to subsequent changes) and connection with the threat of the spread of a new strain of coronavirus infection "Omicron".
Visitors are obliged to pass non-contact body temperature control at the entrance to the courthouse, to use personal protective equipment (masks) without fail. In case of refusal to fulfill these requirements, visitors to the court will not be allowed. Persons with signs of SARS are not allowed into the courthouse.
When you are in the courthouse, you must strictly observe the social distance (at least 1.5 meters) and wear personal protective equipment for the respiratory system, including in courtrooms, it is recommended to use personal protective equipment for hands (gloves).
Visitors are obliged to comply with the requirements of employees of the Sortavala City Court of the Republic of Karelia on the need to leave the premises for the purpose of disinfection and ventilation.
Upon completion of the court session, familiarization with the case materials, visitors must immediately leave the building and the territory of the court.
Violation by a visitor of the court of sanitary and epidemiological rules, including those established by the legal regime of high alert, is the basis for terminating his presence in the courthouse.
In addition, the work of the admissions court is suspended:

Participants in legal proceedings in civil and administrative cases, in cases of administrative offenses, if their participation in the consideration of the case is not mandatory, before the court session on the case (material) have the right to file a motion for the consideration of the case (material) in their absence. Such a petition must be sent in advance by any available means of communication: by mail, through the section "Submission of procedural documents in electronic form" of the court's website, by sending a telephone message to the phone numbers indicated in the procedural documents emanating from the court.
