Powers of the court

Consideration at first instance of the following categories of cases:
- criminal cases, with the exception of cases, referred to the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation to the competence of higher courts;
- civil cases, with the exception of cases that are considered by justices of the peace, military and other courts. In the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, where justices of the peace have not been appointed (not elected), cases that fall within their competence are considered by the judges of the district courts alone. In the case when, when several related claims are combined, the subject of the claim is changed or a counterclaim is filed, the new claims become subject to the jurisdiction of the district court, and the rest - to the magistrate, all claims are subject to consideration in the district court;
